MDA has tested over 670,000 in Israel for Covid-19

MDA has tested over 670,000 in Israel for Covid-19, with 56,748 confirmed cases, 23,560 recovered & 433 deaths as at 22 July 2020.

Magen David Adom announced on Thursday, that since the beginning of the outbreak, MDA has obtained 670,182 test samples. MDA staff have obtained samples in homes, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, educational institutions, and in Drive and Test complexes.
 
Last week (July 16-22) MDA EMTs and paramedics have obtained 70,322 test samples. 14,924  samples were obtained in people’s homes and in the schools, 37,413 from residents and staff members at nursing homes and 17,985 at MDA’s Drive and Test facilities. According to MDA data, 187,558 samples were obtained in peoples homes and in the schools. 277,930 samples were obtained from residents and staff members at long term care facilities and nursing homes.

Breakdown of Figures

At MDA’s Drive and Test facilities 204,694 samples were obtained. At the permanent facilities in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem and Beer Sheva 108,312 people were sampled.

Of those sampled:

  • 43,907 were in Tel Aviv
  • 41,563 in Jerusalem
  • 13,771 in Haifa
  • 9,071 in Beer Sheva

In addition as needed, Magen David Adom operates additional Drive and Test complexes throughout the country. Testing at the mentioned facilities requires a referral from the patient’s primary care physician.
 
MDA is continuing to operate the Drive and Test facilities, while also carrying out testing in nursing homes and long term care facilities throughout the country. In addition, MDA teams will obtain samples from those who are home-bound and have obtained a referral for the test. In addition, MDA Paramedics have obtained 2,750 serological tests.

Evacuation of thousands of verified patients from their home for hospitalization. MDA’s 101 Emergency Call Centers also show a significant increase in citizen inquiries, which reached 24,353 calls a day this week, an increase of about 400% compared to a routine day.
 
Along with obtaining hundreds of thousands of samples for Corona, MDA blood services continue to collect plasma from Corona’s recoveries for the treatment of severely ill patients and the production of a passive vaccine. To date, approximately 4,809 plasma doses have been donated from Corona’s recoveries. 608 doses have been given to 304 corona patients in moderate and severe condition.
