Humanitarian

For more than 80 years Magen David Adom has been providing emergency medical services to the citizens of Israel. Although saving lives is its primary role, functioning as the Israeli Red Cross Society, Magen David Adom also plays an integral part in many other activities, offering humanitarian aid and assistance within Israel and abroad.

Cooperation with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent

Magen David Adom is a leader in the field of “Training of Trainers” in First Aid and in recent years has run successful courses for the Georgian Red Cross, the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society and the Jordanian Red Crescent Society.

Magen David Adom participated in the Annual Italian First Aid Assembly and also worked with Indonesia in an exchange of expertise. We have reformed the ambulance service in Panama and we are renowned as the global experts in training for ‘mass casualty’ situations.

Over the years the organization has sent dozens of humanitarian aid missions to help victims of natural disasters in many parts of the world, helping victims of earthquakes, drought and hunger, fires, air-crashes and terror attacks.

Youth Delegations from Magen David Adom in Israel have taken part in exchange programmes with the Bavarian Red Cross Society and the Turkish Red Crescent. With the generous support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Magen David Adom launched a seminar for young people from around the world, providing a deeper understanding of Magen David Adom, its mission and its place within the arena of international humanitarian projects.
